2016 Herb Fitch Senior Games Played Today

The Rochester Chapter of USLacrosse along with the Rochester Knighthawks sponsored the 2016 Senior games for both senior boys and senior girls today at Victor High School. It a warm but beautiful night and a "final game" for the seniors, chosen from throughout Section Five to play in one last high school game.

In the first half it started in a back and forth fashion, with teams trading goals but the Red team pulled away with three goals in a three-minute span to give them a 10-6 lead at the half time break.

At the top of the second period the Blue Team scored six in a row before Bridget Flynn (Red) scored around the 18-minute mark. Shortly thereafter, Spencerport goalie Liv Schroeder became ill and had to leave the game. Both first half goalies, Victoria Greco (Pal-Mac-Red) and Vanessa Walters (Blue- Waterloo) had to leave at the half (for their graduation ceremonies), leaving no one in the goal. After a few minutes playing with an up-side-down goal (and no goalie), Penn Yan Boys goalie, Gage Ponsetti came in to finish the period for the Red team.

In the second half there were more runs with the game eventually tying at 17-17 when Alicia Reuscher (Geneva) scored on a free shot. The Blue team then scored the go-ahead goal when Kate Costanza (Brighton) put it in the net with just over two minutes left. Reuscher then scored her third goal of the game to give the Blue team a 19-17 final.
