Spencerport Scores Four of Last Five in Win

Spencerport scored four of the last five goals to comeback and defeat Canandaigua 10-9.  The Rangers did not take their first lead of the game until 4:56 remaining in the second half.

Peyton Smith finished with 5g for the Braves and scored the opening goal unassisted to give Canandaigua the early 1-0 lead.  The Braves held either a tie or the lead for the next 40 minutes.  Eighteen seconds after Smith’s goal, the Rangers got on the board with Camryn Sack assisting Emily Coykendall.  Coykendall finished with 2g-1a.

Canandaigua kept up their pressure and added two more goals (the first from LaRen Blakesley and the second from Lexi Braniecki).  Spencerport followed-up with their own two goals from Erin Coykendall and Maliah Benedetto.  Erin finished with 1g-4a to lead the Rangers in points.  Canandaigua continue to take the lead and Spencerport continued to catchup.  The Braves could not pull away and never got more ahead than 3 points (6-3 at halftime).

Canandaigua held a two goals lead (8-6) with ten minutes remaining in the game.  The Rangers scored four of the next five goals to secure the win.  Benedetto scored two and Natalie Choate scored the third to put the Rangers up 9-8.  With 1:07 remaining, Smith scored her final goal off a feed from Lindsay Reho.  Spencerport followed with their final goal seventeen seconds later.  Once again Sack assisted to Emily Coykendall.  Overall, Spencerport scored four goals within 1 minute of the previous goal.

For Canandaigua, Clancy Rheude finished with 7 draw controls and 6 groundballs to lead her team.  The Braves finished 10/19 at the draw.  Goalie Cassidy King played the first half and recorded 5 saves for Canandaigua.  Izzy Kenyon played the second half and recorded 2 saves.  For the Rangers, Kiari Rufus recorded 5 saves over the entire contest.  Erin Coykendall finished with 6 of the 9 draw controls for Spencerport.
