Sophomores Lill and Bell Lead Schroeder to Victory

Sophomore Payton Lill scored back to back goals for Schroeder to give them the lead going into the second half.  The Warriors defeated Churchville-Chili 15-7.  Although Schroeder pulled away in the second half, the first 15 minutes of the contest were back and forth.

Churchville-Chili scored the opening goal just 0:20 into the game.  Skylar Burlee scored her lone goal unassisted to give the Saints their first of two leads in the game.  Webster Schroeder came back with back to back goals to take the lead.  Lill scored the first of her 4g-1a with an assist from Madison Bell.  Bell, also a sophomore, finished the game with 4g-2a.  She and Lill currently lead Schroeder with 12 points each (LillBell).  The Saints kept up their pressure with two goals of their own.  Ilia Bagley and Katie Cosgrove both added unassisted goals.  Cosgrove finished with a team leading 4g for the Saints.  

Schroeder tied the game for the third time at 3-3 with an unassisted goal from Maria Hristodoulou before Cosgrove took the lead back to the Saints for the last time.  With 8:08 remaining, Lill scored her second goal to tie the game 4-4.  Less than a minute later she scored again to give the Warriors the lead for the last time.  The Warriors kept up the pressure scoring six of the next seven goals to lead 11-5 with 12:45 remaining in the second half.

In addition to her offensive skills, Lill finished with a team leading eight draw controls to help control the pace of the game.  Defensive midfielder Casey Roux finished with five ground balls for Webster.  Between the pipes, 8th grader Jordan Concordia finished with 4 saves and was 100% at clears for Schroeder.
