Fairport and Victor are Champions

DAY IN REVIEW: SATURDAY - Both Victor and Fairport won their NYSPHSAA Championships at Hofstra University today. For Fairport it was their first title as they won in double overtime, It was a repeat for Victor who won in 2022.

-8 at GARDEN CITY-6 in a NYS Class B Championship game - After a 3-3 first half, Garden City scored first, giving them a short-lived lead, when junior Devin Livingston tied the game and set the victory in motion. Victor scored four more to put the Blue Devils up 8-4. Due to the excitement, there were no stats available by Sunday morning. When they arrive, they appear in the box score.

According to other sources, scoring for Victor were Devin Livingston (4g-1a), Allie Pisano (2g-2a), Julia Bruno (1g-1a), and Morgan Livingston (1g). Maggie Allen was credited with 5 saves.

MASSAPEQUA-9 at FAIRPORT-10 in a Double Overtime Class A NYS Championship game - After a 5-3 first half the Red Raiders saw a 7-4 lead in the second half, when Massapequa scored three goals in less than a minute to tie the game. After a back and forth scoring and with less than a minute in regulation Fairport goalie Jaelyne Twomey game up with a big save and the teams entered overtime. With no scoring in the first OT, Lily Kondas took a feed from Katie Mallaber driving from behind the goal for the game winner. It is Fairport's first NYS Championship in girls' lacrosse. Due to the excitement, there were no stats available by Sunday morning. When they arrive, they appear in the box score.

According to other sources, scoring for Fairport were Ella Peers (4g), Lily Kondas (4g), Katherine Mallaber (1g-2a) and Ellie Miller (1g), In the goal: Jaelyne Twomey (19 svs).

Scoring for Massapequa: Ashley Mellilo (3g), Jessica Giller (1g-2a), Joely Caramelli (3g), Bridget Valentine (1g-1a), Allison Petrullo (1a), Ellen Leisen (1a), and Caitlyn Dorman (1g). In the goal, Christina Fradella (6 svs).     [ BOX SCORE
