Fairport and Penfield Win Today

DAY IN REVIEW: FRIDAY - Fairport was in control with their 18-11 wins against Baldwinsville and Penfield won a close 7-6 game with Northport, but Penn Yan and Victor with on the wrong side of close games.

FAIRPORT-18 at BALDWINSVILLE-11 - Fairport had a convincing victory on the road over the defending class A champions in section III.  Leading the scoring for the Red Raiders were Lily Kondas (5g/2a), Ella Peers (3g/4a), Ellie Miller (4g/1a), Camryn DuBose (2g/3a), and Katie Mallaber (3g/1a).  Fairport faces rival Rush-Henrietta at home on Wednesday.    [ BOX SCORE

PENFIELD-7 at NORTHPORT-6 - The Patriots held off a late charge by Northport—last year’s class A champions in section XI—to earn the win.  Peyton Rothfuss (3g) and Jenna Capozzi (2g/1a) led the scoring for Penfield, while Aly Welz registered three caused turnovers.  The Patriots resume league play when they travel to Rush-Henrietta to play the Royal Comets next Friday.    [ BOX SCORE

PENN YAN-9 at TOPSAIL-10 - In a matchup of unbeatens, Penn Yan was edged by the Pirates of Topsail (NC).  Bailey Cooper was superb in defeat, totaling seven goals, four draw controls, and two caused turnovers for the Mustangs.  Taylor Mullins contributed one goal and three draw controls.  The Mustangs resume section V play when they host Geneva on Wednesday.     [ BOX SCORE

VICTOR-6 at COLD SPRING HARBOR-8 - For the Seahawks of Cold Spring Harbor (VIII), it was their second win in two days over a visiting section V opponent.  The Blue Devils continue their Long Island sojourn when they take on St. Anthony’s (LI Parochials) on Saturday.  There were no statistics reported from Victor at post time.     [ BOX SCORE
