Brockport and Penfield Win by One

DAY IN REVIEW: SATURDAY - There were five games played today and two were won by one goal. Penfield defeated Mercy 8-7 and Brockport beat Eastridge/BK 9-8.

Penn Yan vs CanandaiguaPENN YAN-3 at CANANDAIGUA-7 -   The Gray Wolves (10-0), who have now won five straight games over Penn Yan dating back to 2008, remain the only undefeated team in section V.  Hanna Davis, Lola Schorr, and Leah Sheridan each scored two goals for Canandaigua.  For the Mustangs (8-3), Bailey Cooper had two goals, and Taylor Mullins recorded the 200th draw control of her varsity career.  The Gray Wolves host Spencerport on Wednesday, and the Mustangs play host to Waterloo on Friday.       [ BOX SCORE

GATES CHILI-13 at GANANDA-MARION-4 -  Gates Chili gained its first victory of the season, while Gananda-Marion remains winless.  There were no statistics reported from either team at post time.  The Spartans will be traveling to Greece Wednesday to take on the Storm.  The Blue Panthers look for their first win when they take on Marcus Whitman Monday.       [ BOX SCORE

Penn Yan vs CanandaiguaMERCY-7 at PENFIELD-8 -  Penfield (6-3) rallied from a 6-4 halftime deficit to secure the win.  Ninth-grader Whitney Reynolds scored the winning goal off a free position opportunity with just over three minutes left in the fourth quarter.  Peyton Rothfuss achieved two career milestones in the game—her 100th varsity goal and her 100th varsity draw control.  For Mercy (6-3), Mia Quagrello had two goals, including the 50th of her varsity career.  Krista Harnischfeger also had two goals and ninth-grader Elinor Meyer saved 10 shots for the Monarchs, who visit Spencerport on Monday.  Penfield plays Brighton on Monday in a rematch of a game that the Patriots won in overtime two weeks ago.        [ BOX SCORE

EASTRIDGE/BK-8 at BROCKPORT-9 -  With the win, Brockport improves its record to 4-5.  Ada Krupa scored four goals for the Blue Devils, Ashley Mandeville scored three goals, and Danica Burton recorded seven saves.  There were no statistics reported from Eastridge/Bishop Kearney (4-4) at post time.  On Monday, the Blue Devils visit Livonia-Avon, and Eastridge/Bishop Kearney hosts Geneva.        [ BOX SCORE

AQUINAS-17 at NEWARK-MIDLAKES-6 -  For the Little Irish, the win was their fifth this season against three losses.  Savannah Hinchcliffe (4g/4a) and Kessa Sangasy (4g/2a) led the scoring for Aquinas, while Marilena Diaz, Brynn Henry, and Haley Bennett chipped in two goals apiece.  There were no statistics reported from Newark-Midlakes (3-5) at post time.  Both teams resume play on Monday, with the Little Irish visiting Waterloo and the Screaming Eagles traveling to Greece to challenge the Storm.   [ BOX SCORE
