Penn Yan Pulls Away From Brighton

In a non-league lacrosse match held at Brighton on Friday, Penn Yan secured its first win of the season, outscoring Brighton 12-8. The Mustangs took control early, leading 4-1 in the first quarter and maintaining their edge throughout. Brighton, now 1-2, struggled to close the gap and ultimately fell short.

Bailey Cooper led the Mustangs` offensive effort with seven goals and one assist. Ruby Berry contributed three goals, while Gianna Voigt added three assists. Maihue Miranda-Wiltberger and Lila Hansen chipped in one goal each. Penn Yan goalie Marion Wheeler registered seven saves. Brighton’s team statistics were not reported at post-time.

With the win, Penn Yan evened the series history between the teams since 2005 at two wins apiece. Looking ahead, Brighton hosts Victor on Tuesday, April 8th, while Penn Yan faces West Genesee (section III) on Monday, April 7th.     [ BOX SCORE
