Mercy Defeats Brighton

In a non-league clash at Brighton, Mercy (5-0) earned a decisive 12-5 win on Wednesday. For the Monarchs, the win broke a 12-game losing streak against the Bruins, dating back to 2006. Senior Mia Lusardi led the Monarchs with four goals, including the 100th of her varsity career; she also had an assist. Sydney Cook finished with two goals and four assists, while Lydia Malvaso added two goals and one assist. Elinor Meyer was steady in goal for Mercy, recording five saves.

For Brighton (2-4), the attack was spearheaded by Ireland Mistretta, who tallied three goals. Ella Brunette and Lena Brunette each scored once, and Alexandra Madison and Sara Solomon each contributed an assist.

The Monarchs look to extend their unbeaten streak to six when they host Penn Yan next Wednesday. The Bruins aim to rebound when they face CNS (section III) on Friday.
