The Pal-Mac girls’ lacrosse team opened its season at home with a strong performance, defeating Churchville-Chili 9-6 in a non-league game.

Marcus Whitman Dominates in Season Opener

Marcus Whitman kicked off its season with a convincing 11-4 victory over Gananda-Marion in a Finger Lakes game held at Richard Mann Elementary. The Wildcats established their dominance early, leading 2-0 in the first quarter and expanding the gap with a five-goal surge in the second. Helen Snyder led Marcus Whitman with four goals, Sophia Snyder contributed two goals and two assists, and eighth-grader Aubriella Bowman netted three goals, including the first of her varsity career.

For Gananda-Marion, no official report of individual player contributions was provided.

The defensive backbone of Marcus Whitman's victory was Sydney Shaw, who made 11 saves and posted an impressive 73% save rate across 48 minutes. Despite Gananda-Marion scoring three goals in the second quarter, their offense struggled to penetrate the Wildcats’ defense in the remaining quarters, managing just one additional goal in the fourth.

With the win, Marcus Whitman moves to a 1-0 record, while Gananda-Marion starts their season at 0-1.

Fairport Opens Season with Victory Over Brighton

Fairport secured a 16-10 win against Brighton in a Monroe County game on Friday night. The Raiders took control early, leading 4-2 after the first quarter and maintaining their edge throughout. Senior midfielder Ella Peers led Fairport with five goals and two assists, achieving a career milestone of 150 goals while Freshman midfielder Camryn Hauber celebrated her first varsity goal. Additional contributions came from Camryn DuBose (three goals - three assists) and Ellie Miller (two goals).

Brighton`s Ireland Mistretta scored five goals, while Alexandra Madison added four goals and one assist. Goalie Lauren Russell made five saves for Brighton in 48 minutes of play.

Fairport extended their lead with consistent scoring each quarter, including a five-goal third. The Bruins made a late push in the fourth, netting four goals, but it wasn't enough to overcome the deficit. Madison Van Gorder, Brenna Goss, Kate Patterson, and Meghan Arserio each recorded a goal for Fairport, while Riley Lawrence chipped in one for Brighton. Fairport's balanced attack and strong midfield play were key to their season-opening victory.

CNS Triumphs Over Penfield in Overtime Showdown

Defending NYS class A champions CNS (section III) secured a 10-9 overtime win against Penfield in a thrilling non-league game. Gabrielle Putman (3g/10dc) and goalie Jillian Howell (10s) keyed the win for CNS, while Peyton Rothfuss led the Patriots with four goals and an assist.

Lakers Secure Victory in Close Match

Livonia-Avon-Geneseo narrowly defeated Greece Storm 15 to 13 in a non-league game, with standout performances from juniors Lily Rowe and Sidney Clickner. For Greece Storm, senior Erica Savage achieved her 100th career assist and 200th career draw control.

Genny Narrowly Defeats R-H

West Genesee (section III) defeated Rush-Henrietta 12-10 in a non-league lacrosse game at Rush-Henrietta. Danielle Garrett and Kate DeWald led the scoring for the Royal Comets with three goals each.  Kate DeWald also achieved a milestone with her 200th career draw control.

Brockport Defeats Gananda-Marion

Summary: Brockport defeated Gananda-Marion 19-7 in a non-league lacrosse game, led by Molly McJury with eight goals and supported by standout performances from Giavanna Saeva (2g/5a) and Sophia Gubiotti (2g/3a). Churchville-Chili Secures Decisive Win

Churchville-Chili emerged victorious with a 14-2 win against Mynderse-Romulus in a non-league game on Saturday. Campbell Hewlett led the Saints with six points, and goalie Mikayla Mellenthine registered five saves. Sophomore Ava Ozkaynak scored her first varsity goal in the win. Penfield defeated Penn Yan 15-7 in a non-league game. Whitney Reynolds and Jenna Capozzi led Penfield's scoring, while Bailey Cooper and Ruby Berry combined for six of Penn Yan's seven tallies. Penfield goalie Karis Hand had four saves in 48 minutes of play.

Honeoye Falls-Lima Tops Pal-Mac

Honeoye Falls-Lima defeated Pal-Mac 17-5 in a non-league game.  The Cougars were led by Shaye Angelo, whose eight goals and four assists included the 150th goal and 50th assist of her career.

Spencerport Secures Win Over C-C

Spencerport secured a 15-1 victory over Churchville-Chili in Monroe County play on March 31, 2025. Raquel Circhirillo led Spencerport with four goals, and Brooke Endres contributed three goals and an assist while also collecting eight draw controls.

Geneva Wins Match Against Brockport

Geneva opened its season with a strong 15-3 victory over Brockport. Key players included Mackenna Harris with five goals and 10 draw controls and Meghan Forbes with four goals, including the 50th of her career.
