Clement Scores Back to Back 8m to Secure Win for Braves

Cayla Clement turned the game around and helped secure a 7-5 win for Canandaigua over Penfield.  Clement, a senior, finished the game with 2g-1a, but all three came at the perfect time for the Braves.  Clement assisted the goal to bring the score within one; then she scored the tying and go-ahead goals off of 8 meter shots. Ratliff's Four Goals Lift HF-L to Victory

Kierin Ratliff scored 4 goals to lift HF-L to a 9-8 victory over Churchville-Chili.  The game was evenly matched with the game tying at all but 8-8.  The lead changed 6 times with both teams leading for significant parts of the game.  The pace of the game changed in the second half with HF-L scoring three goals in a row (the only time either team scored more than two in a row) to take and keep the lead. Two One Goal Games and a 10 Goal Win

HF-L and Midlakes finished today with one goal wins over Churchville-Chili and Livonia.  HF-L defeated Churchville-Chili 9-8 and Midlakes defeated Livonia 10-9.  In the largest victory of the day, Rush-Henrietta defeated Hamburg 18-8.   Full Story

Three Games Played as Weather Warms Up

After two days of all games being cancelled, three games were finally played in Section Five.  Although five others were cancelled, Canandaigua defeated Waterloo (12-3), Fairport defeated Aquinas (16-6) and Penfield defeated Irondequoit (9-8). Full Story

End of Week #2

Week 2 added another 16 games into the season.  Brighton (1-2), Pittsford (1-1) and Victor (1-2) had out of town trips. Plus a number of big inter-section competitions in Section V: West Genesee over HFL, Guilderland over Canandaigua, Carthage over Geneva and Schroeder of Lancaster. Full Story

Mercy and Schroeder Win

With four out of Section games and one intra-section match, the games are coming faster in Section Five.  Mercy kept their 13 game winning streak alive against Livonia with a 7-3 win over the Bulldogs.  Schroeder defeated Lancaster 11-5 for the first time since 2012.  Canandaigua lost another one goal game against an out of Section competitor with an 8-7 loss to Bethlehem. Friday Has Four Out of Section Contests

Updated: Today saw four teams playing out of Section competition.  Georgetown Visitation defeated Brighton 14-4. Saints Stephen`s and Agnes defeated Victor 19-6 and Guilderland defeated Canandaigua 7-6. Full Story

Pollack Leads Red Raiders to Victory

Fairport junior Britteny Pollack led in scoring with 4g-3a in Fairport's 19-5 win over Mercy.  The Red Raiders had 12 different players make their offensive scorebook for the season opener.  Junior midfielder Maddie Howe and senior midfielder Megan Konieczny finished with 3g-1a each.  She was also demonstrative at the draw; she finished with six draw controls for Fairport.  Mercy seventh graded Sami Carey finished with a hand in each of the five Monarch goals (3g-2a). Fairport Wins Sole Section Five Game

Fairport defeated Mercy 19-5 in the only inter-Section Five contest.  Brighton faced off against George Mason (VA) and Victor faced off against Episocal Academy (PA).   Full Story

Out of Section results 1-1 on Wednesday

Pittsford defeated Winter Mills (MD) 13-11 in the first Out of Section win from a Section Five team.  In the second game of the night, West Genesee defeated HFL 17-7 for their fifth win over the Cougars in the last 10 years. Full Story

Out of Section Teams defeat Brighton and Pittsford

Notre Dame Prep (MD) and Bishop Ireton (DC) defeated Pittsford and Brighton this evening.  Notre Dame Prep won 15-6 and Bishop Ireton won 19-6.   Full Story

Irondequoit moves to 2-0 with win over Penn Yan

The Eagles secured their second win this week with an 8-4 win over Penn Yan.  The game was tied 3-3 going into the second half, when the Eagles outscored the Mustangs 5-1.  Marcus Whitman scored eight unanswered goals to secure theri first win of the season against Eastridge. Full Story

Mynderse Moves to 2-0 With Win over Greece Ath/Ody

Mynderse defeated Greece Athena/Odyssey with a strong second half performance.  The game went into the second half tied 6-6 before Mynderse outscored the Thunder 7-3 in the second half.  The only other game scheduled for today was Brighton and Mercy.  Due to weather concerns, the game was postponed to a future, yet to be determined date. Two Games on Tuesday

The second day of Section Five Lacrosse ends with Irondequoit and Aquinas defeating their opponents.  Both teams led at halftime and held on through the second half for the win. Full Story

Irondequoit's Alvarado and Pease Lead Team to Victory

Irondequoit's Kierston Pease (2g-1a) and Celina Alvarado (2g-2a) were instrumental in the Eagles 6-5 victory over Pal-Mac.  Pease and Alvardo scored the first four goals to take control of the game. Full Story

Mynderse Wins Season Opener

Mynderse came out to play in today's contest and defeated Midlakes 12-7.With their win tonight, Mynderse moves their 10 year record against Midlakes to 4-17.  They have won 3 of the last 4 contests  Full Story

Each year, the National Federation of State High School Associations survey their membership for participation data on all of the sports that they offer their students. The 2015 reports are in and lacrosse for both boys and girls show another increase in both participation and sponsorship. Full Story

A New Site for the Girls of Section Five

Based on the popular boys site, SportsFive.NET, this new site for girls' lacrosse will contain, over time, much of the same information. Beyond the schedules and results, other popular areas will include rosters, statistics and player profiles. Much of this information is in the formative stages and will be dependent of the willingness of coaches, parents, players and fans to submit the various types of information. Full Story
