he Rochester Democrat and Chronicle announced their 2017 All-Greater Rochester Lacrosse team on Friday. The list features the top sixteen players and a number of honorable mentions were led by HFL senior Caitlin Muir who was named Player of the Year. She finished the season with 64g-30a.  She will continue to play next season at Michigan.

# 181  Smolensky Lead Brighton in Win
athryn Smolensky finished with 3g-2a in Brighton's 12-6 win over Penfield.  The Barons scored ten goals straight before Penfield scored the final three goals during a single yellow card against Brighton.  The Patriots came out of the gate strong and scored the opening two goals.  Lindsay Hernady scored unassisted on fast-break goal only 0:26 into the contest.  Two minutes later Chelsea Atkins fed the ball to a cutting Megan Motkowski to give the Patriots a 2-0 lead with 22:46 left in the first half.  Brighton followed with two of their own.  Rene Gangarosa assisted Smolensky for the opening goal and two minutes later Gangarosa scored unassisted.  Her goal came after she picked up her own rebound directly on the crease and scored on the strong second effort.  Penfield third goal was scored with Brighton's goalie out of position and Lucy Rugaber feeding across the cage to Madigan Lublin.

n the first game of the tournament season where the lower seed was victorious, #5 Webster Schroeder defeated #4 Penfield 8-7.  The Warriors scored the game winning goal with 0:00.3 remaining on the clock.  Payton Lill scored her fourth goal as time expired to give the Warriors the win.

# 123  Howe and Pollack Lead Fairport to Victory
addie Howe scored 5g-1a and Brittney Pollack scored 2g-4a to lead Fairport to a 12-8 win over Penfield.  The two were a part (either goal or assist) on 10 of the 12 goals for the Red Raiders.  Penfield kept the game close for the first 35 minutes before Fairport started pulling ahead.  The Red Raiders scored the final three goals and four of the last five to secure the win.

here were eight games played on the last day of April.  Half were close and half were one-sided.  R-H defeated Schroeder 9-8, Eastridge defeated Newark 8-7, Corning defeated Canandaigua 12-8 and Penfield defeated Churchville-Chili 9-4.  On the other side of the coin, Irondequoit defeated Livonia 17-4, Victor defeated Hilton 17-5, Thomas defeated Lancaster 17-6 and Brighton defeated Mercy 22-5.

ith 11 Games tonight the closest game of the night was two-goal wins from Brighton over Schroeder 9-7 and Irondequoit over R-H 10-8.  The largest disparity was Hilton over Gates-Chili 18-3.  The remaining games were Pittsford over C-C 9-3, Penfield over Victor 12-8, Fairport over HFL 13-10, Brockport over Eastridge 21-9, Aquinas over Gananda 14-4 and Thomas over Canandaigua 8-4.

Four games were decided by a single goal tonight.  HFL defeated Thomas (6-5) in overtime, Greece Ath/Ody defeated Eastridge (9-8), Fairport defeated Churchville-Chili (8-7) and Mynderse defeated Midlakes (10-9).  In more one sided contests, Canandaigua over Schroeder 8-4, Pittsford over Irondequoit 9-6 and Hilton over Greece Oly/Arc 13-4.

fter two days of all games being cancelled, three games were finally played in Section Five.  Although five others were cancelled, Canandaigua defeated Waterloo (12-3), Fairport defeated Aquinas (16-6) and Penfield defeated Irondequoit (9-8).

# 18  2015 All-Greater Rochester
The 2015 All Greater Rochester list was published at the end of the season and Webster Thomas senior Emily Resnick was named the 2015 Player of the Year by the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle.  All told, sixteen players were noted on the list.  Leading the charge were players from Churchville Chili, Victor, Pittsford and Irondequoit with two players each.
