he Rochester Democrat and Chronicle announced their 2017 All-Greater Rochester Lacrosse team on Friday. The list features the top sixteen players and a number of honorable mentions were led by HFL senior Caitlin Muir who was named Player of the Year. She finished the season with 64g-30a.  She will continue to play next season at Michigan.

There were eleven matches tonight in Section Five.  The closest match-up was Gates Chili over Ath/Ody 16-15.  Canandaigua defeated Schroeder in a two goal contest 11-9 and Aquinas defeated Penn Yan 9-7.  Additional scores included, Pittsford over Marcellus 14-10, Churchville-Chili over Brockport 14-6, Pal-Mac over Penfield 18-7, Spencerport over Lake Shore 22-10, Gananda over Newark 7-4, Mynderse over East Rochester 15-6, Brighton over Victor 10-3 and Fairport over Irondequoit 14-5.

ith 14 games scheduled tonight, it was one of the biggest nights of the year.  Most games were one sided; however, HFL defeated Irondequoit 7-6 and Fairport defeated Victor 7-4.  Additional scores were Penfield over Oly/Arc 16-3, Waterloo over East Rochester 17-8, Mynderse over Newark 16-6, Brighton over Brockport 19-1, Canandaigua over Eastridge 20-1, Pittsford over Thomas 11-5, Spencerport over Schroeder 14-4, Penn Yan over Gananda 20-3, Marcus Whitman over Midalkes 19-8 and Pal-Mac over Wayne 18-1.

here were 11 match-ups tonight to end the Week.  Two previously undefeated teams lost their first game tonight: Penn Yan defeated Aquinas 5-3 and Churchville-Chili defeated Lake Shore 14-8.  Brighton defeated RH 8-6 to remaining the only undefeated team (8-0) in Section Five.  Geneva defeated Gananda 7-5, Canandaigua defeated Hamburg 14-0, Mercy defeated Amherst 15-5, Waterloo defeated Mt. Mercy 14-2, Livonia defeated Wayne 9-8, Irondequoit defeated Victor 10-7, Newark defeated Midlakes 9-5 and Thomas defeated Schroeder 12-6.

Aquinas increased their record to 8-0 with a 14-3 win over Gananda.  The Little Irish scored 14 straight goals before Gananda scored the final three.

Finger Lakes end of season awards come in with 24 First and 24 Second Team All County Players.  There are also 22 Honorable Mention Players.  In addition there were 2 All Americans and 2 Academic All Americans.  As well as Co-Defensive Players of the Year, a Midfielder of the Year and an Offensive Player of the Year.

# 131  Whitman Defeats Gananda Third Time this Season
arcus Whitman faced off against Gananda for the third time this season.  The first match-up on 4/27 saw the Wildcats win 8-7 in overtime.  The second match-up was a two goal win for Marcus Whitman 7-5.  The Wildcats came in today ready to win even bigger.  They jumped to a 7-1 lead and never looked back.  They will move on to face #2 seeded HFL on Tuesday.

In a day of mostly close match-ups, the most one-sided contest was only a 5 goal differential: Mercy defeated Geneva 12-7. In closer contests; Wayne defeated Greece Ath/Ody 13-12, Churchville-Chili defeated Penn Yan 11-9, Waterloo defeated Aquinas 8-6, Marcus Whitman defeated Gananda 7-5 and Midlakes defeated East Rochester 10-7.

There were five more games played tonight.  In the closest contest, Mynderse scored five of the last six to defeat Wayne 8-6.  In other games, Gananda defeated Midlakes 12-6, Pal-Mac defeated Waterloo 16-6 and Geneva defeated Marcus Whitman 18-10.  The Penn Yan defeated Newark 14-4.

# 66  Ginsberg Scores In Overtime to Lift Gananda

Jenna Ginsberg scored with 2:25 remaining in overtime to give Gananda their second overtime win of the season.  Previous, Jordan Cunningham scored in overtime to give the Blue Panthers the win over East Rochester.  The games were extremely similar with Gananda taking an early lead that their opponents fought back from to force overtime before winning in sudden victory.  Gananda in 3-2 on the season.

# 50  Cunningham Scores Back to Back in Overtime Win
unior midfielder Jordan Cunningham scored back to back goals to end regulation and secure the win in overtime for Gananda.  The Blue Panthers defeated East Rochester 6-5.  The story was really a game of streaks.  Gananda came out of the gate and scored four quick unanswered goals. East Rochester then took control of the pace of the game and scored five goals of their own to take their first lead with 3:23 remaining in regulation before Cunningham scored her goals.
