The 2024 Season Starts with three Games

DAY IN REVIEW: MONDAY - [ UPDATED] The Girls season opened today with the temperature in the 50's. A bunch of 8th graders scored their first varsity goal in the Hilton win. Senior midfielder Molly Guzik (Spencerport) reached her 150th goal with her 5 goals (152g) and reached her 50th assist with her 4 assists (52a).

CHURCHVILLE-CHILI-5 at HILTON-14. In the Section V season opener, the Cadets emerged victorious behind a balanced attack featuring Lilly Mattucci (3g/3a) and Elena Graziano (5a).  Charley Barlette added two goals for Hilton while also collecting five ground balls and causing three turnovers.  The Cadets resume their schedule on April 10 when they visit Thomas. Leading the scoring for Churchville-Chili were Shavonne Callahan (1g-1a) and Mercy Payne (2g-0a),   [ BOX SCORE

SCHROEDER-7 at PAL-MAC-4 - in a Non-League game: The Warriors opened their season with a win for new coach Emery Fleck.   Teagan Hudek led the Pal-Mac attack with two goals, while Isabelle Cole recorded six saves.  The Red Raiders look to get on the winning track when they host Marcus Whitman on Wednesday. Leading the scoring for Schroeder with 1g-1a were Brooke Guelli,  Molly Meyer, and Kylee Race. Sophomore midfielder Kylie Clement scored her first Varsity goal in the game.    [ BOX SCORE

BRIGHTON-8 at SPENCERPORT-10 - in a Non-League game: Spencerport won a tightly contested match against the visitors from Brighton.  Molly Guzik (5g/4a), Brooke Endres (2g/1a), Alyssa Nichols (2g), Aria Pittman (1g), and Sophia Marron (1a) provided all the scoring for Spencerport.  The Rangers look to make it two wins in a row on Wednesday when they travel to HF-L to face the Cougars. Leading the scoring for Brighton were junior midfielder Ireland Mistretta (2g-1a), junior midfielder Ella Brunette (2g), and senior attacker Lucy Lederman (2g). Penn Yan and Waterloo Both Win by One Goal

DAY IN REVIEW: WEDNESDAY - There were eight games played today and two games were determined by a single goal.

Penn Yan at IrondequoitPENN YAN-7 at IRONDEQUOIT-6 - The Mustangs edged the Eagles in another close match.  Bailey Cooper had five goals and one assist for Penn Yan.  For Irondequoit, Ellie Bottiglier and Grace Bottiglier each had two goals.  Eighth-grader Lucy Whipple also had two goals, including the first of her varsity career.  The Mustangs resume play on Friday, when they visit Corning (IV).  The Eagles next play on April 10 at Churchville-Chili.   [ BOX SCORE] - - More images in the photo gallery.

RUSH-HENRIETTA-16 at THOMAS-0 - The Royal Comets enjoyed a successful season opener, led by the scoring of junior Danielle Garrett (4g/3a), sophomore Kate DeWald (4g/1a), ninth-grader Emma DeWald (3g), and sophomore Riley Brown (3g).  Kate DeWald also collected nine draw controls, including the 100th of her career.  On April 4, Rush-Henrietta travels to West Genesee to play a team to be determined, and Thomas visits Pittsford.    [ BOX SCORE

MARCUS WHITMAN-3 at PAL-MAC-19 - Of the nine different players who scored for the Red Raiders, five scored their first Varsity goal: Anabelle Grant, Kenzie Miller, Claire Nolan, Brinn Castrechini and  Lia Donaher. Sophomore Aliysiah Clark scored her first Varsity goal for Marcus Whitman.     [ BOX SCORE

Penn Yan at IrondequoitSPENCERPORT-12 at HONEOYE FALLS-LIMA-6 - Spencerport defeated HFL this evening in HFL by a score of 12-6.   Molly Guzik led the Rangers with 4 goals, 4 assists and 8 Draw Controls, while Share Angelo (3g) was the leading scorer for the Cougars.  Spencerport carried a slim 5-4 lead into the half but pulled away in the final two frames to double up the Cougars by games end.     [ BOX SCORE

PENFIELD-6 at VICTOR-14 - Penfield fell short in its contest against last year’s class B champions.  Allie Pisano (4g/1a), Devin Livingston (4g/1a), Julia Bruno (3g/1a), and Maia Pronti (4a) provided the lion’s share of the scoring for Victor.  There were no statistics reported from Penfield at post time. .Both teams have non-league contests against section II opponents next week; Penfield hosts Bethlehem on April 1, and Victor travels to Saratoga Springs on April 4.    [ BOX SCORE

CANANDAIGUA-21 at BROCKPORT-1 - The Canandaigua Gray Wolves travelled to Brockport this evening to open their season with a 21-1 victory.  Hanna Davis (4g-2a), Samantha Lupton (5g-1a), and Leah Sheridan (4g-2a) each tallied 6 points in the convincing win.  Zoe Baase scored the lone goal for Brockport while Goalie Jessica Maher notched 10 saves.  Brockport will try to shake off the loss tomorrow against Gananda-Marion, while Canandaigua will wait a week before their next contest when they will visit Mercy on 4/3.    [ BOX SCORE

Waterloo vs Storm FAIRPORT-11 at BRIGHTON-7 - Fairport opened its season in defense of its class A title with a win at Brighton.  Lily Kondas (5g) and Katie Mallaber (3g) led the Red Raiders’ attack, while Taylor Frank made nine saves.  For the Bruins, Ella Brunette and Alexandra Madison had two goals apiece.  On April 1, Fairport has a non-league matchup against Cicero-North Syracuse (III).  Brighton plays next on April 12, when they host Victor.     [ BOX SCORE

Leading the scoring for Brockport (1-1) were Senior midfielder Zoe Baase (3g-2a), McJury (2g), and Senior attacker Emma Cuzzupoli (2g).  In the goal for Brockport was freshman Jessica Maher who recorded 10s/7ga = 59% (48 mins).
