Despite trailing by six goals at halftime, the Patriots rallied and tied the game at ten with 22 seconds remaining in regulation, when Avery Fordham scored off a feed from Peyton Rothfuss. But Penfield was unable to build on its momentum in overtime and Sayville ultimately scored the game-winner on a goal by UNC commit Sophia Buffardi.

Several of the Patriots turned in outstanding performances. Avery Fordham led the attack with three goals. Jenna Capozzi contributed two goals and some exceptional all-around play.
