he Rochester Democrat and Chronicle announced their 2017 All-Greater Rochester Lacrosse team on Friday. The list features the top sixteen players and a number of honorable mentions were led by HFL senior Caitlin Muir who was named Player of the Year. She finished the season with 64g-30a.  She will continue to play next season at Michigan.

# 302  State Finals
ittsford and HFL both advanced to play in the State Finals.  The Panthers defeated Middle Country 10-9 in double overtime to secure their first State Title.  The Cougars fell to Mt. Sinai 15-4.  Scoring information was obtained directly from NYSPHSAA and may be updated by Coaching/Reporting Staff.

# 301  Class A State Title - Pittsford over Middle Country
ittsford's Ellie Mooney scored the game winning goal in the second overtime period off an 8m free position shot to give Pittsford the Class A State Title.  This is the first State Title for the Panthers and the first in Class A for Section Five.  Section Five has only won four State Titles with the last time being Brighton in 2005.  Pittsford defeated Middle Country 10-9.  Jenna Doyle (2g) was named Tournament MVP.  In addition to the girl's the Pittsford boys played in the State Final match, where they lost to Ward Melville 10-9 also in overtime (HERE).

t the conclusion of the Class A Tournament, the All Tournament Team was announced.  The Team consists of the top 13 players in the Class A Tournament this year.  There are 12 regular spots and an MVP spot.

# 239  Brighton Remains Undefeated
Brighton remained one of only two undefeated teams in Section Five with their 8-6 win over Pittsford.  The Panthers drop to 7-1 on the season.  In general, the contest was a great example of lacrosse in Section Five.  There was only one time during the game where the score was more than 2 goals apart.  Katie Lederman stood out for the Barons and scored the final three goals to secure the win late in the second half.

Fourteen games were played today.  HFL defeated Eastridge 18-1 in the largest differential of the day.  Marcus Whitman defeating Wayne 12-11 in the closest game of the night.  Additional games: Fairport defeated Greece Olympia/Arcadia 16-6, Waterloo defeated Geneva 15-9, Midlakes defeated East Rochester 10-2, Gananda defeated Newark 9-1, Aquinas defeated Nichols 9-5, Victor defeated Gates Chili 16-5, Pal-Mac defeated Penn Yan 12-7, Schroeder defeated Greece Athena/Odyssey 16-3, Brighton defeated Canandaigua 10-6, Irondequoit defeated Brockport 14-7, Pittsford defeated Churchville-Chili 11-2 and Spencerport defeated Thomas 12-8.

# 167  Six from Pittsford Sign NLIs
It was another signing day in Pittsford as the Girls Lacrosse Team celebrated with six seniors who signed National Letters of Intent indicating their decision to play college lacrosse. Singing were Elizabeth Landing (New Hampshire), Caroline Cullinan (Stanford), Jenna Doyle (Virginia Tech), Heather Higgins (Old Dominion, Julie Quevedo (Virginia), Mackenzie Winn (Delaware).

BA scored the first four goals and never trailled in their 11-6 win over Pittsford.  The Panthers fought back to 4-3, before CBA scored anther six unanswered.  They led 10-3 late in the second half.  Pittsford scored the next three, but never got closer than four.

# 144  Section Five Sweeps State Quarter Finals
Section Five finished with a clean sweep against Section Six in both the girl's tournament and the boy's tournament.  Pittsford defeated Lancaster 19-3 in the first game.  In the Class B game, Victor defeated Hamburg 23-9.  In the final game of the night HFL defeated Lake Shore 12-7 to finish out the sweep.  On the boy's side, Victor, Thomas and Penn Yan all won (see more at SportsFive.net).

Top seeded Pittsford will be the Class A representative to the NYS Tournament.  The Panthers defeated Fairport 11-6.  They scored the first goal and never trailed in their win over the Red Raiders.  Jillie Quevedo set the pace of the entire game when she scored on fast-break goal only 0:15 into the contest.

Megan Plain finished with 6g-1a for the #1 seed Pittsford in their 17-4 win over #5 seed Webster Schroeder.  The Panthers scored the first two goals and the game was never tied.  They scored 6 of the first 7 and led 6-1 with 12:37 remaining in the first half.

In the closest game of the night, Marcus Whitman defeated Wayne 9-8 in overtime.  Other close contests included Midlakes over East Rochester 10-6, Pittsford over Penfield 10-6 and Webster Thomas over Webster Schroeder 11-9.  Rounding out the scores were Pal-Mac over Penn Yan 14-8, Spencerport over Clarence (20-7) and Hilton over Athena/Odyssey 14-3.

# 62  Pittsford Gives CNS First Loss of Season
ittsford moves to 5-1 with their 10-7 win over CNS (Section III).  CNS falls to 6-1 with their first loss of the season coming at the hands of the Panthers.  The game was highly contested in the first half with both teams leading.  The Panthers scored the first four goals to the second half to secure the win.  Senior Maddie Miller scored the first two goals of the second half to set the pace for the remainder of the game.

# 53  Biggest Game Night of the Season

With nine games being played, tonight was the biggest night of the season.  The closest contest was HFL over Penfield 11-10 in overtime.  Another close game was Canandaigua over R-H 8-5.  There were also a number of one sided contests with Hilton defeated Eastridge 22-0, Spencerport over Arc/Oly 22-4 and Brockport 13-2 over Ath/Ody.

# 18  2015 All-Greater Rochester
The 2015 All Greater Rochester list was published at the end of the season and Webster Thomas senior Emily Resnick was named the 2015 Player of the Year by the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle.  All told, sixteen players were noted on the list.  Leading the charge were players from Churchville Chili, Victor, Pittsford and Irondequoit with two players each.
