strong>DAY IN REVIEW: WEDNESDAY - Mercy secured an 18-7 victory over Aquinas-WOIS, led by Sydney Cook, Mia Quagrello, and Elinor Meyer. Penfield cruised past Fairport, 14-4, as Peyton Rothfuss tallied six points. Geneva, behind eight goals from Velia DeMaria, extended its perfect record to 5-0 with a 17-6 win over Newark-Midlakes. Pal-Mac dominated Mynderse-Romulus, 16-2, with Brinn Castrechini accounting for four goals and two assists. Jessica Maher and Hannah Bonczyk combined for six saves in Brockport's 13-3 victory over Marcus Whitman. No reports were available for Wayne’s 17-5 win against Gananda-Marion.

CHURCHVILLE-CHILI-16 at LIVONIA-AVON-GENESEO-6 - Churchville-Chili defeated Livonia-Avon-Geneseo 16-6 in a lacrosse match on April 4. For the Saints, Shavonne Callahan (3g/5a) celebrated her 50th career goal, and Mikayla Mellenthine had six saves. Lily Rowe led the Lakers with two goals and two assists.     [ BOX SCORE

MYNDERSE-ROMULUS-7 at GENEVA-16 - Geneva overpowered Mynderse-Romulus 16-7 in a Friday matchup, with standout contributions from Makenna Harris and Allison Marquart. AQ-WOIS vs New-MidPENN YAN-12 at BRIGHTON-8 - Penn Yan triumphed over Brighton in a non-league lacrosse game, winning by a score of 12-8. Bailey Cooper spearheaded Penn Yan's offense with seven goals and an assist, supported by Ruby Berry (3g) and Gianna Voigt (3a). Marion Wheeler had seven saves. Penn Yan now gears up to face West Genesee on Monday, while Brighton prepares to host Victor on Tuesday.

HONEOYE FALLS-LIMA-2 at PENFIELD-15 - Penfield defeated HF-L 15-2 in a Monroe County game, led by Peyton Rothfuss with six points and Whitney Reynolds with four goals. Seven Penfield players scored, and goalie Karis Hand recorded seven saves. HF-L`s goals came from Harper Jacob and Shaye Angelo. GATES CHILI-2 at WATERLOO-15 - Waterloo defeated Gates Chili 15-2 on Friday. Maci Mueller led the Tigers with six goals and two assists, while goalie Peyton Lyons had 12 saves for an 86% save rate.     [ BOX SCORE

VICTOR-25 at SPENCERPORT-6 - Victor earned a 25-6 win over Spencerport on Friday. Leading the offense for Victor were Maia Pronti, Allie Pisano, and Julia Bruno, while Spencerport was led by Brooke Endres with four goals. Victor had 10 players record at least one goal in the game. With the victory, the Blue Devils extend their winning streak over Spencerport to five games.     [ BOX SCORE

# 703  Victor and Fairport Back to the Finals
strong>DAY IN REVIEW: FRIDAY - Section V had teams in all four of the NYS semifinals and two will advance to the championship round as both Fairport and Victor won close games.

FAIRPORT-10 at MASSAPEQUA-9 -   In a tight, back-and-forth contest featuring several second-half lead changes, Brenna Goss (3g) scored the game winner off a free position with 26 seconds left and Marisa Test made a last-second save to secure the win.  The game was a rematch of last year’s class A final, which the Red Raiders similarly won by a score of 10 to 9.   Katie Mallaber led Fairport (14-6) with five goals and two assists.  The Red Raiders advance to the class A final, where they will seek to defend their title against Cicero-North Syracuse (III), in a game to be played at 2 pm Saturday at SUNY Cortland.       [ BOX SCORE

VICTOR-11 at WEST ISLIP-10 -  Although Victor scored early six unanswered goals West Islip scored a couple to go into the halftime break with Victor up 7-2. The Blue Devils still led after three quarters (8-4) and with 2:15 left in the regulation has an 11-7 lead. Throughout the game it looked like the Blue Devils were very much in control and might even dominate, but the Lions came back with three goals in the last two minutes that started with an unforced turnover and a man-up goal as Carly Obloj dodged two and bounced one into the goal with 1:22 left in the game. The Lions won the draw and called time-out with 1:12 left. Francesca Tofano scored on a free position and brought the Lions to within two goals with 0:59 left. West Islip won the draw and picked up another free position opportunity for Tofano who scored with 0:34 left. Once again, the Lions won the draw control and then called a time out with 0:26 left. They took one more shot which went wide and the Blue Devils were able to hang on for the win. Victor will return to the finals once again and will face West Genesee (Section III) at 4:30 on Saturday. There was no report from Victor at post-time.        [ BOX SCORE

MERCY-8 at SAYVILLE -13 -  Sayville (Section XI) maintained their undefeated season with the victory over Mercy in the semifinals today. Although the Monarchs had a 4-3 lead at the end of the first quarter, Sayville scored five unanswered goals in the second and led 8-4 at the half.  Dylan McNamara led the scoring for the 20-0  Golden Flashes. Scoring for Mercy (10-10) were Krista Harnischfeger (3g-1a), Mia Lusardi (2g), Sydney Cook (1g-1a), Emma Kravetz (1g), and Lydia Malvaso (1g).         [ BOX SCORE

PENN YAN-4 at COLD SPRING HARBOR-18 -     In a class D semifinal, Penn Yan ran into a buzzsaw in the form of perennial powerhouse Cold Spring Harbor (VIII).  Bailey Cooper (2g/1a) and ninth-grader Makenna Mullins (2g) accounted for all of the Mustangs’ scoring; Cooper also secured seven draw controls, including the 200th of her varsity career.  The Mustangs conclude their season with an outstanding record of 17-4.       [ BOX SCORE

# 702  A Clean Sweep for Section V
LANCASTER-7 at FAIRPORT-12 -  The Red Raiders built a 7-2 first-quarter lead en route to their second straight NYS class A semifinal berth.  Ella Peers led Fairport (13-6) with four goals, two assists, and six draw controls.  Katie Mallaber added three goals and Brenna Goss chipped in two more.  It was Fairport’s second win in consecutive years over Lancaster (VI) in the NYS quarterfinal round.  The Red Raiders move on to Cortland, where they will take on Massapequa (VIII) Friday in a rematch of last year’s class A final.        [ BOX SCORE

GOWANDA-4 at PENN YAN-17 - The Mustangs scored a convincing win over their opponents from Gowanda (VI).  Nine players scored for Penn Yan (17-3), led by Bailey Cooper (6g/2a).  Ruby Berry, Taylor Mullins, and Makenna Mullins each had two goals for the Mustangs; Taylor Mullins also collected eight draw controls.  With the victory, the Mustangs secured a return trip to Cortland, where they will face Cold Spring Harbor (VIII) in the NYS class D semifinals on Friday.          [ BOX SCORE

Mercy and Penn Yan LAKE SHORE-8 at MERCY-17 -  Leading the scoring for Mercy (10-9) were sophomore attacker Sydney Cook (4g-4a), junior midfielder Lydia Malvaso (4g-1a), and sophomore offensive player Mia Quagrello (3g). In the goal for Mercy was freshman Elinor Meyer who recorded 10s/6ga = 63% (40 mins). Mercy will play Sayville (Section XI) on Friday at 9:00 AM.       [ BOX SCORE

CLARENCE-0 at VICTOR-22 -  Only the score was reported by post-time. The Blue Devils will play West Islip (Section XI) at SUNY Cortland on Friday at 3:00 PM.         [ BOX SCORE

# 701  Victor and Mercy Win Championships
MERCY-10 at HONEOYE FALLS-LIMA-9 - The Cougars took the 4-3 lead at the end of the first quarter and then led 8-5 at the half. The second half belonged to the Monarchs who outscored HFL 4-1 in the third, tying the game at 9-9 after three quarters. Mercy scored the lone goal in the fourth giving them the Championship. Leading the scoring for Mercy (9-9) were sophomore Mia Quagrello (4g), junior Krista Harnischfeger (2g-1a), and sophomore attacker Sydney Cook (2g). Leading the scoring for Honeoye Falls-Lima (9-10) were senior Camryn Trybuskiewicz (1g-4a), sophomore Shaye Angelo (4g), and junior Rylee Bennett (1g-1a). Mercy will play Lake Shore (Section VI) at FLCC on Saturday.         [ BOX SCORE

Canandaigua vs VictorVICTOR-15 at CANANDAIGUA-10 - Canandaigua took a 3-2 lead after the first quarter, but the Blue Devils responded with seven goals in the second quarter and led at the half 9-5. When they outscored the Gray Wolves 5-2 in the third it was too much for Canandaigua despite scoring three goals in the last stanza. Scoring for Canandaigua (16-3) were senior Hanna Davis (3g-1a), sophomore Lola Schorr (3g-1a), senior Caroline Lyttle (2g-1a), sophomore Leah Sheridan (2g-1a), and junior Samantha Lupton (1a).  There was no report from Victor (16-3) at post-time. The Blue Devils will play Clarence (Section VI) at 1:00 PM on Saturday at FLCC.     [ BOX SCORE
