For the third time in as many years the Spencerport vs Fairport game was decided by two goals or less. The Ranger's got revenge after last year's 7-6 overtime loss to the Red Raiders (HERE). Spencerport defeated Fairport 11-9 after scoring three of the last four goals. Natalie Choate (5g-1a) and Erin Coykendall (1g-5a) were instrumental in the Ranger's victoryor the third time in as many years the Spencerport vs Fairport game was decided by two goals or less. Section III team South Jefferson travelled out to Honeoye Falls-Lima to face for the fourth time in the last four years. South Jefferson won 9-5 over the Cougars. Section Five Announces New Seeding Procedure |

Section Five Chairman Al DeCarlo has announced that for 2017, the Girls of Section Five will adopt the seeding system that has been used by the boys for the past 15 years. Ellie Mooney scored with 0:57 remaining in the second overtime period to give Pittsford the 6-5 win over Fairport. The Panthers came back from trailing to force overtime and then secure the victory. The Red Raiders led for the entire game and the first time that Pittsford took the lead was the game winning goal. The Saints scored five unanswered goals in to end the first half and start the second half to take an 8-4 lead that the Cadets could not fight back against. Hilton pulled the game within one goal twice, but could not tie the game. Amanda Hilderbrandt and Jenna Ricotta each scored four goals for the Cadets. The ninth goal was scored by Sydney Carpenter. Hilderbrandt also led her team with 4 draw contorls and 3 ground balls. Defenseman Josephine Ban recorded 2 caused turnovers. This was a short week of games during the School Break Week. Only 18 games were played this week with many teams finding out of Section competition. There were two overtime games this week with CNS defeating Thomas 11-10 (HERE) and Eastridge defeating Wayne 9-8 (HERE). Two more one games included, Hilton over Nichols 7-6 (HERE) and Geneva's over Livonia 11-10 (HERE) which included a GLaxFive report. We are down to three undefeated teams: Aquinas (7-0), Brighton (5-0) and Pittsford (5-0). Paulina Goodermote was an impressive defensive force for Churchville-Chili in their 14-8 win over Lake Shore. Her final stats showed 12 saves and 8 goals against (60%); however, that doesn’t even begin to show how she actually played. The final five shots she faced were all goals as Lake Shore attempted to pull back into the game. With 10 minutes remaining in the game she was 12/15 (80%). She also had 3 ground balls and an interception in the cage. Of her 12 saves, four were off 8m free position shots. Tonight, was the first time back to Titan stadium for Schroeder Head Coach Brian Hanley after moving from Assistant Coach at Thomas to Head Coaching at Schroeder this season.
