ince the conclusion of the season, we have worked to collect all the Post Season Awards to release at a single time.  As we approach a week out from the State Finals, we have determined that we cannot wait any longer.  Tonight, we posted all the information that we have received and will update the missing data when it is provided.  We have received some requests to update individual personal pages and apologize to those waiting to see their records updated.

# 465  Penultimate Night of the Regular Season

On the second to last night of the season, all nine scheduled games were played.  There are now only 3 games left in the season.  Seeding is nearly completed and present (HERE).  Much of the seeding appears stable, but we are watching a few key matchups that can make changes in the final seedings.  We will publish them as soon as possible tomorrow night.

Tonight's closest game was Wayne 9-8 over Gananda.  Additional scores included Greece over Gates Chili 19-0, Irondequoit over Thomas 8-4, Hilton over HFL 11-8, Spencerport over Fairport 13-5, Mynderse-Romulus over Geneva 15-8, Waterloo over Marcus Whitman 11-5, Pal-Mac over Penn Yan 18-4 and Pittsford over Brighton 10-7.

ith the final week of the season upon us there were 11 games played tonight (with one being moved to tomorrow).  That leaves us with only 17 games left in the regular season.  Seeding is becoming much more solid (see seeding page HERE); however, it is always important to remember that every game matters and seeding can change up until the last game is played.  Many games tonight were one sided, but two came down to a single goal.  HFL defeated Pal-Mac 9-8 and Churchville-Chili defeated Greece Storm 7-6.

# 421  Mercy Has Strong 2nd Half in Win over Pal-Mac

Mercy dominated the second half to defeat Pal-Mac 13-9.  The Monarchs scored 9 of the last 11 goals in the contest to come back from a three goal deficit.  The main difference in the second half was ball-time.  Mercy picked up the draw controls in the second half and denied the Red Raiders the ball. Leading in draw controls for Mercy was Karli Harnischfeger with 5.

oving into the next couple weeks, we will see a lot more than six games a night; however, tonight is the current champion with six contests.  The closest match-up was Baldwinsville's 6-5 overtime win over Brighton.  Churchville-Chili also won a single goal game with their 7-6 win over Greece Storm.  The remaining games were Eastridge over Gananda 10-3, Mercy over Mt. righton scored the first three goals and eight of the first ten in their 11-5 win over Pal-Mac.  The Barons were dominate on offense and strong on defense during the entire 50 minute contest.  Brighton Defenseman Eileen Kelly was a standout force on the field.  She recorded 5 caused turnovers including a pair of single pressure takes with just her vs. the Pal-Mac ball carrier.  She was joined by Hayley Zielinski, Piper Davis and Brogan Holbrough to keep the Pal-Mac offensive from being able to turn up the pressure.

he Finger Lakes has released their 2018 All League Awards and Final Stadings.  The Nine team division released 15 1st Team Awards, 15 2nd Team Awards and 17 3rd Team Awards.  Additionally, Player of the Year honors were given to the top defenseman, attacker and midfielder.  Waterloo's Andy Lee was named Coach of the Year.

Updated 05/29/2018 The Tournament has been completed and we have our Champions.  In Class A, Penfield defeated RH.  In Class B, Brighton defeated Spencerport in overtime.  In Class C, HFL defended their Title and defeated Geneva.  In Class D, Pal-Mac defending their Title and defeated Penn Yan.  In addition to securing the Girl's Section Five Championship, the Penfield Patriots Boy's program also won the Class A Title.

arcus Whitman led at the break 8-6, but Penn Yan turned it around in the second period forcing overtime where the Wildcats came out on top. # 341  Pal-Mac Wins in Sixth Annual Cradle for the Cure
In the first game of the Girls-Boys Double Header of the "Cradle for a Cure" program, the girl's of Pal-Mac defeated Wayne 20-2.  This marked the sixth annual "Cradle for a Cure" matchup to support a local family and Camp Good Days and Special Times.  The local fundraising/awareness event is currently in its sixth year.  After the Girl's match-up, the Boys played with Wayne defeating Pal-Mac 17-9.  The Boy's story can be found HERE.

The list features the top sixteen players and a number of honorable mentions were led by HFL senior Caitlin Muir who was named Player of the Year. al-Mac scored the first 11 goals in their 14-3 win over Waterloo.  Sophomore Emma Arnold had a standout game for the Red Raiders.  She finished with 4g-2a, 4 draw controls, 5 ground balls and 1 caused turnover.  She was also a key defensive player in the game.  Between the pipes, Sophia Leva also had a strong game for Pal-Mac, she recorded 6 saves and had 3 interceptions when she left the pipes.

The final two days of Section Five lacrosse are upon us with the Sectional Titles being decided over the next two days.  The Class A Finals will be #1 seeded Pittsford vs. #2 seeded Fairport.  The Class B Finals will be #1 seeded Spencerport vs. #2 seeded Victor.  The Class C Finals will be #1 seeded Pal-Mac vs. #2 seeded HFL.  Class A Finals will be played on May 31st at St. John Fisher College in a Boys/Girls double header.  Class B and Class C Finals will be played on June 1st at Pittsford Sutherland.

nother weekend finished in Section Five.  Today saw Pittsford defeating CNS (Section III) 10-7.  The Northstars were previously undefeated.  Webster Schroeder held off a late advance to defeat Penn Yan 9-7.  R-H defeated out of section Lancaster 14-5 and South Jefferson defeated HFL 13-8.  In other games Mercy defeated Clarence 10-6 and Pal-Mac defeated Churchville-Chili 9-4. In single goal games, Gates-Chili scored in overtime over Eastridge 9-8 and Thomas defeated Hilton 16-15,

# 27  Irondequoit's Alvarado and Pease Lead Team to Victory
Irondequoit's Kierston Pease (2g-1a) and Celina Alvarado (2g-2a) were instrumental in the Eagles 6-5 victory over Pal-Mac.  Pease and Alvardo scored the first four goals to take control of the game.
